The 14th annual Heavy Rebel Car & Bike Show will be bigger than ever! Last year we had over 500 custom pre-1972 vehicles lining Trade Street, from 5th to 7th Street. This year we have an even bigger area and can't wait to see what everyone brings.
As always, the HRW Car & Bike Show and all the outdoor HRW activities on Saturday are FREE to attend and open to the general public, no ticket needed. Those wishing to show their vehicles are strongly encouraged to register in advance. Registration is free for HRW ticket holders or $10 without ticket. Registration will start at 7am Saturday at the entrance to the car show at Trade & 5th Streets. Read more about registration here.
The Car Show runs from 9am to 4pm and our good friends Finnigan's Wake will be opening their doors early to welcome the crowds. Food and drink will be available at Finnigan's starting at 9am. Be sure to stop by for some delicious Irish pub fare. If you'd like to sip on a frosty brew while admiring the cars and bikes, Finnigan's is also the place to pick up your wristband.
2014 marks the inaugural year of the HRW Big Wheel Race! We are super stoked to team up with big kid badasses SFD Industries and invite you to compete, or just watch, some knee-scrapin' (wear protection, pals) big time fun! At 1pm behind the Millenium Center, contestants will race the length of the track and back, dodging cones and other obstacles. The winner of each heat will be entered in a tournament bracket and we will compete until a winner is crowned! Riders with custom big wheels will compete against each other in separate heats. No engines/motors. Awards will be presented for: Tournament Winner, Most Creative Big Wheel and Most Creative Costume... maybe more! Riders will be required to sign a waiver before racing, those under 18 will need a parent to sign the waiver. Safety gear is encouraged! A small number of Green Machines will be available to use for those who don't BYOBW (that's Bring Your Own Big Wheel)... See you at the races!
HRW Mud Wrestling is one of Saturday's favorite events and we are encouraging participants to form tag teams or wrestle in costume – as long as you don't mind your costume getting covered in mud! The wrestling pit is full of Carolina mud (no sticks and rocks!) and is set up behind the Millennium Center loading dock. Wrestling starts around 2pm, during the car show, and The Buzzards will be set up playing live on the loading dock… you might even see Adam the First Real Man breathing fire! Car show trophies will be awarded around 3:30pm from the loading dock.
The public is also welcome to come shop the vendors inside the Millennium Center from 12pm - 4pm on Saturday. At 4pm the MC will close to non-ticket holders, but if you would like to stay for the evening's festivities, single day tickets are available at the front door from 5pm on. Tickets for the weekend are $90 in advance, $100 at the door. Single day tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door.
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!
